Everyday Play with Emma Faller
From early tummy time and learning how to crawl to standing up for the first time, we invited ourselves for a morning play session with Emma Faller and her adorable 8-month-old son, Erik, to learn how the family has used MODU throughout the first months, exploring new skills and connecting through play.
How have you used MODU throughout these first months?
We’ve explored a lot of different exercises, like building a slant for tummy time or placing his upper body on the large base block and ‘luring’ him with the rattle pegs to encourage him to crawl. Personally, I’ve had a lot of fun just driving him around on the scooter board and teaching him to get comfortable with movement.
As a first-time mom, what thoughts have you had about development and supporting your child's growth and learning?
I’ve been really surprised by how differently kids grow and learn in terms of what they’re capable of, when they acquire new skills, and what interests them. We’ve actually taken it pretty easy. This summer, we spent two months in Italy, where Erik was mostly just chilling on a mattress outside. I think that’s been great for him and has helped him get super strong because he could roll around and explore things on his own.
Can you share some of the best play moments you've had with MODU so far?
Erik crawled and stood up for the first time using MODU, so those are definitely some of our favorite moments! Right now, he loves holding onto the pegs while they’re attached to the base block, just standing up and bouncing <3
In general, I’ve found the Activity Guide super helpful as inspiration, and it’s been so fun to explore new movements and skills together that I didn’t even know he was capable of.
