Everyday Play with Fanny Petite
Living between Paris and their countryside home, artistic director Fanny Petite and her family have created a space where creativity, family life, and play naturally intertwine. Fanny welcomed us into life at Maison Nino to talk about slow days in the countryside, designing a home for children, and how MODU has become part of the family's everyday adventures.
Can you tell us a little about yourself and your family?
I’m Fanny, an artistic director living between Paris and our countryside home, @maisonnino__, with my partner Charles, our two boys, Marcel, almost 7, and Michel, almost 3, as well as our pug, Raoul.
A lot of our daily life naturally revolves around images, interiors and creating spaces that feel warm, playful and welcoming for the kids. Our countryside home has become a place where family life, creativity and play all blend together in a very natural way.
Being in your country house, how does everyday life feel different here?
Life feels much slower and more spontaneous here. The kids move constantly between inside and outside, the days feel less structured and we spend much more time together. There is also a different relationship to light, space and nature that completely changes the rhythm of everyday life.
What role does play and family time typically take on when you’re in the country?
Play becomes part of everything here. The kids invent games all day long, move things around, build little worlds and use every corner of the house and garden differently. Family time also feels simpler and more connected, with long afternoons outside, cooking together or simply spending time around the house.
How does MODU fit into this?
What we love about MODU is how naturally it fits into our home and daily life. The kids use it everywhere, from the kitchen to the garden or upstairs in their rooms, and they constantly reinvent new ways of playing with it. We also love that it feels playful and creative while still blending beautifully into the atmosphere of the house.
What’s been the kid’s favorite creation or way to play?
Building the highest tower possible has definitely been one of their favourite ways to play. They also love creating little pieces of furniture, like armchairs or steps, and then inventing games around them. What we love most is seeing how the constructions constantly evolve throughout the day depending on their imagination.
